An exciting opportunity has become available to join our clients' management team in a Harvesting Manager role. The company grow a specialty fruit product 12 months of the year and they are keen to source an individual who has a passion for the Fresh Produce sector.
Reporting to the Owner, the Harvesting Manager will be responsible for organizing an efficient and accurate harvest of the farms crop to a tight schedule. Supervising a team daily to ensure drilling, planting and irrigation of the crops are adhered to and taking responsibility for crop husbandry, availability and quality of the crop destined for the UK major retailers. Ensuring all staff are trained and managed to a high standard, with Health & Safety maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
• To manage harvesting and husbandry staff to ensure their performance meets the required standard.
• To identify, train and supervisor a full team of field supervisors
• Ensure the effective management of the piece work scheme.
• To plan and co-ordinate the movement of people from field to field.
• To ensure correct health and safety protocols are maintained for the fruit harvesting operations
This is a site role working in a field environment and managing a large teams during peak season.
The ideal individual will have a land based Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture or Environmental, with a strong understating of the techniques involved in managing a teams within a harvesting / grower environment. Experienced in harvesting crops and happy to work in a field environment. Experience in the Fresh Produce sector, ideally with a UK grown crop, preferably soft fruit.
