Job Description

Reporting to the Works Manager and/or the Operations Manager, the Production Operative works on the machines and production lines that blend adhesives, coatings and binders. Items are manually labelled and products dispensed by tap into tins, bottles or drums for stock and dispatch.

In this job you will need to have patience, as the tasks can be repetitive. You will also need to work well in a small team and on your own carrying out several tasks within the same shift. It is a requirement that you have experience of work in a previous role blending chemicals. A "can do" attitude is desirable as during busy times it can be necessary to change the production schedule with little or no notice in order to meet our customer's needs. Attention to detail, accuracy and an ability to work cleanly are essential.

Duties
The manufacture of adhesive products is particularly hands on, so your work as the Production Operative will include:

• Stock control experience.

• Monitoring the production process and carrying out basic testing and quality checks.

• Labelling and dispensing completed batch production.

• Loading of completed goods and unloading of incoming goods using fork lifts trucks.

• Ensuring that both equipment and work areas are cleaned and maintained.

Hours

You would typically work a 5 day, 40 hour week consisting of 8.00am to 4.00pm finish (Monday to Friday). Overtime may be required during busy times.

Factories are usually noisy and can be hot or cool, depending on the time of year and products being manufactured. You would wear protective clothing.

Entry requirements

The successful applicant will have a pass grade (C or above) GCSE Maths and English to start work and it will be useful if you have previous experience of work in a blending role in a manufacturing environment. Applicants will be asked to attend for interview and complete a maths test.

To be a Production Operative you should have:

• Excellent observational skills and ability to work with accurate measurements.

• A pro-active attitude.
