Role: Stakeholder Engagement Officer (known internally as Connecting the Culm - Co-Creation Specialist Project Officer)

Salary: £24,000 - £26,000 per annum FTE
Hours: 24 hours per week, with the scope to increase hours over time
Contract Type: Fixed Term until June 2022 with possibility of an extension

Role Description:
If you have a passion for the environment, a skill for community building, like a challenge, work at pace and have an interest in adapting to climate change, with the ability to bring together a wide range of individuals and organisations to make things happen - our client has the right job for you in the Culm catchment on the border of Devon and Somerset in south west England.
'Connecting the Culm' (CtC) project - a 3-year partnership project led by the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) that has been developed to tackle significant challenges faced by the River Culm and its catchment. This project is part of the wider EU funded Interreg 2 Seas Co-Adapt project, with allied projects being run in Somerset, the Netherlands, Belgium and France. Co-Adapt aims to demonstrate how communities can come together to implement nature-based solutions to climate-change related issues. This partnership catchment project that has been developed to tackle some existing significant challenges and those posed by climate change for the River Culm and its catchment, between the source in the Blackdown Hills AONB and confluence with the River Exe near Exeter, including a major new Garden Village development.
Over the next 3 years you will use your community development, networking and engagement skills to work closely with a range of organisations, stakeholders, landowners, community groups and volunteers to create lasting monitoring regimes, create avenues for continuous engagement with the river management and co-design nature based solutions alongside communities who will be affected.
Key skills that they are looking for,
- Proven experience of fantastic engagement and communication skills, to facilitate the creation of a River Watch scheme comprised of volunteers
- Proven experience of an ability to effectively communicate with a variety of individuals from a range of backgrounds, quickly establishing lasting working relationships
- An understanding of co-creation, and demonstrable experience of engaging, building trust, developing relationships, and working with a wide range of stakeholder organisations and groups
- A skilled presenter capable of giving talks and presentations to a range of groups and organisations
- An Entrepreneurial Flair: to work with a wide variety of Stakeholders to create a shared vision and drive success.
- Someone with a strong community focus, to understand the local area and increase understanding of the impacts of climate change and develop shared solutions with local communities
- Knowledge of conserving and enhancing biodiversity
- An ability to bring multiple project elements together harmoniously
- To work at a fast pace, exploring, planning and ensuring financial and sustainable viability
