Trainee Survey Technician

Aspect Land & Hydrographic Surveys Ltd are currently offering an opportunity for individuals with an interest in a career in Surveying to join the company as Trainee Survey Technicians.

The role will involve working within a positive, friendly team, gaining experience in a variety of survey specialities. Full training will be provided in the use of specialist equipment and software packages.

Applicants should have an interest in STEM subjects and must be educated to higher level or equivalent. They should able to demonstrate practical and problem-solving capabilities.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a variety of both land & hydrographic survey projects alongside our experienced surveyors and will gain experience across the full wide range of survey disciplines.

Opportunities to move on to formal academic training via a graduate apprenticeship programme may be available to suitable candidates with the appropriate level of qualifications.

Duties and Responsibilities

The role will be varied, working across a wide range of survey specialisms including topographic surveying, Ground Penetrating Radar, Laser Scanning (LiDAR), UAV & Aerial surveying and hydrographic surveying.

Work is both office and site-based, so will involve working outdoors for a large proportion of the working time, in all weather conditions.

Due to the nature of the work, a flexible approach to working hours (including occasional evening and weekend work, when required) is essential, as is a willingness to stay away when necessary

A full current driving licence would be advantageous but is not essential

Applicants must reside in the local area.

The successful candidate will:

  • Undertake data capture using specialised equipment to produce topographic and hydrographic surveys, including GPS and conventional survey methods, for a range of purposes.
  • Use computer-aided design (CAD) and other specialist IT software packages to process and interpret data and to present information.
