We are currently recruiting for an experienced Technical Manager to join our team here at Greencore Manton Wood, Sheffield.

The Technical Manager leads our technical function on site ensuring that we are producing food of the highest quality for our clients at all times. Within your role of Technical Manager you will be working to maintain the extremely high quality standards that we set whilst maintaining the quality of our service delivery.

You will ensure that our products conform to all relevant specifications and that we are fully compliant against our Customer Codes of Practice, HACCP and current legislation.

Main responsibilitiesYou'll take the lead on investigations into key deviations from process and customer specification, ensuring that appropriate action is taken to bring the process back under control.A large part of your role will be the management of your Technical team, focusing on supporting and leading your team to deliver successful results for the business, in addition to playing a key role in mentoring them to realise their own potential both now and in the future. Other duties will include:

Monitoring departmental KPI's and challenging improvement

Ensure targets are achieved and improved.

Lead a culture of continuous improvement

Ensure that the entire factory is a safe working environment and that the department meets all standards in Site Safety, Health and Environment.

Within your role as Technical Manager you will support the wider business and will assist with customer site visits, audits and business reviews.

Ideal candidateOf degree calibre, you'll have a food science background with a great experience of managing quality management systems in high paced chilled food production environments. You'll be responsible for the food safety management across the site and so a background in food science and legislation will be a must.

With demonstrable experience of applying food legislation to manufacturing practice, you'll have experience of managing supplier auditors and the ability to evaluate and interpret shelf life data.

You'll be more than capable of managing your own work load in addition to managing your team. With strong influencing skills you'll look to persuade others of improvements and innovations that can be made to improve food safety across site and ideally have experience in fast paced chilled food manufacturing and major retailer experience.
