Working under the umbrella of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) Animal & Plant Health Agency (APHA) is the government agency that takes responsibility for keeping the nation safe from any animal diseases. You will play a key role acting as the Science Directorate’s main point of contact for all administrative activities and issues as well as leading and managing all the administrator teams in the Directorate.

Working with other colleagues in the Science Strategy and Planning Department, Finance and Procurement you will be responsible for translating administrative, procurement and financial policies into action, planning, allocation of work and liaison with corporate administrative functions.  Working with Defra finance to provide a single picture of the financial position and understanding of the financial position for the Science Directorate. 

This is an exciting opportunity using your highly organisational skills to work flexibly to deliver a range of different areas of work simultaneously to required standards and timescales. A skilled communicator with good interpersonal and written skills to enable effective interaction with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders. You will have strong Excel skills essential to manipulating large data sets, using looks ups, pivot tables and “sumif” functions.
