Job Introduction

As our digital platforms continue to grow we now require a creative, experienced and flexible video content creator to join our team to work on commercial projects, delivering great content that gets our advertisers' messages across in a way that appeals to our audience.

The job is based in either Manchester or Liverpool but will cover the north west as a region. The role involves producing high quality video content for commercial clients that will be distributed on our regional and national platforms through our websites, mobile apps and social media.

As part of our commercial team; a typical project would see you working with local or regional clients to produce great, engaging video to encourage sales, product awareness or bookings. Probably creating one version for the client's own website and a second version optimised for the different requirements of social media and our own online environment. Knowledge of digital storytelling is a must along with an understanding of how different platforms and channels affect the way content is created, delivered and viewed.

We are Reach because it's what we do.

Every day our newsbrands - national and regional, in print and online - reach millions of people up and down the country. We are the UK's largest news publisher, with influential national newsbrands such as the Daily Mirror, Daily Express, Sunday People, Daily Record, and more than 100 distinguished regional titles.

Our brands have a long heritage of being trusted sources of news and information, with our editorial conviction and high standards of journalism providing audiences with timely information and opinion across multiple platforms.

Last year we sold 620 million newspapers, with 5 million readers of one of our brands each month. Our network of over 70 websites provide 24/7 coverage of news, sport and showbiz stories, with 8 billion page views per year.

We average 21 million mobile visitors - that's 60% of the entire mobile market. Each month we attract over 32 million unique visitors. That's more than our competitors. You will help us further increase our digital audience into 2019.

Key Responsibilities

The main duties of the role involve:

  • Meeting with clients, devising workable creative concepts that use video to promote clients' businesses;
  • Working both alone and with the commercial editorial team to prepare treatments, scripts and where appropriate, storyboards that enable clients to visualise the planned video;
  • Pre-production planning, client liaison, job scheduling and freelance talent acquisition (actors, voice-over artists, models etc);
  • Filming and editing the video to a high standard and the delivery of various versions tailored for relevant platforms.

The Ideal Candidate

The role requires experience of all aspects of video production - ideally the person should be an all-rounder, not just an expert in one aspect of production as they will be required to shoot and edit as well as devise concepts. Some experience of working in a commercial video environment is preferable to any particular formal qualification along with experience of shooting in a one-person crew situation.

Experience of working with professional video cameras and a thorough working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro / After Effects or similar are essential as is a comprehensive understanding of video formats and delivery methods. Creativity and an ability to come up with eye-catching and innovative approaches will be a core part of the job.

The individual needs to be confident with talking to clients, technically excellent in video production as well as commercially and legally aware when dealing with budgets, deadlines and copyright issues. A driving licence is essential.
