Conference and Events Manager

Permanent, full time post

£32,236 - £42,036 per annum plus benefits

The College is seeking to appoint a full time, permanent Conference Manager to lead and manage the Conference and Events Office.  Reporting to the Domestic Bursar, the post-holder’s principal objectives are to attract conference trade to the College and to ensure that conferences and other functions booked through the Conference Office run smoothly.

This is an exciting time to be joining Sidney Sussex, as the College will soon be completing its newly enhanced kitchen and additional dining facilities, along with a remodelled terrace and gardens. The College has also recently launched its own commercial trading company, Sidney Sussex Hospitality Ltd. and we anticipate that the new manager will be a key player in making this venture successful.

This is a permanent, full time post involving 37.5 hours per week.  Some flexibility is required as from time to time there will be the need to work outside of normal office hours. The salary is points 41 - 50 on the University’s single salary spine, currently equating to £32,236 - £42,036 per annum. Incremental progression through the range is discretionary.

Benefits include an annual leave entitlement of 25 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays; an excellent contributory pension scheme, free College meals when on duty and subsidised membership of the College’s gym facilities.

This post would suit a highly-motivated self-starter with experience of organising and overseeing conferences and other private functions. Excellent communications skills and a high standard of computer literacy and competency are also important to this role as are strong interpersonal skills, a “can-do” attitude and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-orientated environment.

A job description, person specification and application form are available on the College website.

The closing date of application is Monday 5th August at 12.00 noon with interviews expected to take place during the following week commencing Monday 12th August.
