Job Description Leisure & Culture Dundee is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) SC042421. It was established by Dundee City Council in July 2011 to deliver leisure, sports, library, information and cultural services for the city.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Leisure & Sport to support the work of the Health & Wellbeing Section. This post will support the development, implementation and evaluation of the Leisure & Sport Health & Wellbeing hub, (programmes of suitable, agreed exercises or physical activity for people affected by a range of circumstances).

Based within the Leisure & Sport section, working 37hrs per week you will support people referred to the hub to access and attend activities provided as part of the programmes (including providing assistance through the referral and bookings process). Additionally, be aware of, signpost people to and support people to attend generic physical activity classes across Dundee City following their involvement in the hub programmes.

This post is fixed term to 16 November 2020.

To support people referred to the hub to access and attend activities provided as part of the programmes (including providing assistance through the referral and bookings process). Additionally, be aware of, signpost people to and support people to attend generic physical activity classes across Dundee City following their involvement in the hub programmes.
The Individual You will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, presentation skills and ICT skills, including Microsoft Office, its associated applications, experience of using various databases and the analysis and production of reports.

You will have experience of assisting in the delivery of health promotion or sport & physical activity programmes, engaging with hard to reach groups through sport & physical activity in education, sport, health, community, leisure and/or recreation industries and experience of providing a high level of customer care to enable individuals to access a range of services; ideally within a sport & physical activity or health/wellbeing promoting environment.

You will also be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the aims of the health & wellbeing programmes with a clear understanding of the benefits that physical activity and sport can bring to all, but especially those people living with long term health conditions and challenging situations.

The ability to create a sense of enthusiasm and confidence amongst partners is essential as well as building a consensus of opinion, influence, persuade and negotiate, maintain a positive attitude to delivering a high level of customer care, work cohesively as part of a team, be adaptable and adopt a positive attitude.

Demonstrate a willingness to undergo/complete appropriate/relevant training to assist in the delivery of the post e.g. cancer awareness training, health behaviour change training and motivational interviewing training.

Driving Licence is also essential.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Leisure & Culture Dundee.
