Solutions & Propositions Director, Government Services , London

Who we are

Capita plc is the UK's leading provider of business process management and integrated professional support service solutions, with 74,000 staff across the UK, Europe, South Africa, India and other centres globally. Our clients span the private and public sectors, including Financial Services, Central Government, Utilities, Technology, Local Government and Insurance. The majority of our business involves the delivery of complex business transformations, customer service delivery and large-scale ICT solutions. Interacting with some 35 million people across the UK on behalf of our clients, Capita concentrates on meeting each clients' specific objectives and challenges, utilising a wide range of in-house specialist resources and extensive capabilities, as well as working in partnership with a range of market leading third-parties.

The team

The Government Services' division provides a range of services to all parts of the public sector. It is responsible for managing multiple complex services to organisations such as Transport for London, NHS England, the Department for Work and Pensions and the Department for Education to name a few. It also provides repeatable, transactional services to local authorities and NHS Trusts. The divisional growth team is a team of exceptional people whose role it is to source, scope, design and - ultimately - win new sales. We work across all the entire division and with our clients to provide flexible, innovative solutions that excite them and that support their current and future challenges. Our work supports the growth of the division and Capita through the co-ordination and delivery of bids to secure new deals and by working with our clients to grow account revenue.

The role

This role has two distinct parts, to reflect the different focuses of the deals and propositions teams. The skills required to work as a Solutions and Propositions Director in either team are transferable, and post holders will have the capability to work in the different environments. In the new model the Solution and Proposition Director's will work on a flexible basis between Solutions and Proposition requirements. We expect 'projects' to be long-term in nature rather than requiring role-holders to manage solution and proposition requirements simultaneously. At the same time, the specific tasks and areas of responsibility will differ, as set out below.

The Deals team
Working in the deals team requires specific experience of working on large, complex bids, and the ability to create effective solutions that incorporate all aspects of a multi-faceted business environment including people, processes and technology, as well as being able to effectively articulate those solutions to internal and external audiences both verbally and in writing.

The Propositions team
Working in the propositions team, the post holder will be expected to use agile project management processes and methodologies to turn propositions in to products that excite the market, whilst aligning to our sales narrative. The role involves leading the creation and development of propositions for the entire Government Services' customer base; the propositions will be scalable and repeatable in nature, leveraging Capita's underlying capabilities, products and services as well as its ecosystem of 3rd party suppliers.

The candidate.

The successful candidate will have in-depth experience working collaboratively with customers to understand their needs and develop appropriate solutions. Have a strong track record in creating solutions using digital and nascent technology platforms, progressing ideas - be it solutions or propositions - from initial concept to functional delivery, including testing proposals commercially and operationally.

This individual will be collaborative, decisive and effective in approach and have likely previously worked in a Consultancy or Professional Services Organisation. Highly desirable to have a mix of operating model transformation experience using design thinking and service design capabilities or background in finance and accounting service transformation.

SAP, Oracle, Workday systems design/pre sales/ transformation programme experience would also be preferable.

Capita Resourcing operates as an equal opportunities employer and we welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates regardless of gender identity or gender expression, marital status, sexual orientation, pregnancy or maternity, ethnic origin, nationality, religion or beliefs, disability, age, political opinions or trade union membership.
