Salary £22,526 p/a

Fixed Term Contract till 31 December 2020

We have two positions available, one at HMP Parc and the other at HMP Cardiff / USK / Prescoed (working between sites).

If so, St Giles Trust is looking for two Senior Resettlement Caseworkers to join us and provide a full resettlement service to prisoners, plus manage your own team.

About St Giles Trust

A well-established charity that helps ex-offenders and disadvantaged people to move their lives forward, St. Giles Trust offers support to help people overcome any issues that might be holding them back and to prevent the likelihood of them reoffending on release. Often, this is provided by the people who know best how to help – those who have been there themselves.

Central to our future plans is a Cabinet Office-funded project that will see our successful candidate work alongside Peer Advisors to help provide a vital Through the Gates service focused on reducing reoffending, with Peer Advisors playing an integral part of the delivery team.

About this key role

You will use your natural people skills to provide daily supervision to your own team of resettlement caseworkers, supporting and coaching them on resettlement issues and acting as a point of contact for the prison and partner agencies. You will also support the Team Leader with inductions and the training of new staff members.

Providing a comprehensive resettlement planning service to prisoners, and to review resettlement plans at agreed stages of a prisoner’s sentence, is your other main priority. You will take the lead on the delivery and coordination of resettlement plan interventions, provide casework support and supervision, as well as delivering resettlement courses on a rolling basis.

To secure this exciting opportunity, you must have:

• Experience of working with individuals who have multiple and complex needs, in prison and on release
• The ability to develop constructive relationships with ex-offenders
• Outstanding people skills, including being a good listener
• Strong time-management and prioritisation skills, and be able to work on your own initiative
• Professional, flexible and able to work in a prison environment, you will also have proven IT skills
• Sympathy with the aims and ethos of St Giles as an organisation
