Appointment of a Lay Member to the Audit Committee of Flintshire County Council

Under the Local Government (Wales) Measure 2011 the Council is required
to have on its Audit Committee at least one person who is a lay member in
addition to those who are County Councillors.

The person appointed should:-
• Be independent from the Council and have no business connection
with it.
• Know how local government functions.
• Not have a well known political allegiance.
Due to the nature of the work of the Audit Committee, the person
appointed must:-
• Be of good character and integrity
• Have listening skills
• Have the ability to understand and weigh up information
• Have team working skills
• Be discreet

Knowledge of Risk Management, Financial Statements, Governance and
Internal Control would be advantageous.

The person appointed will receive a fee of £99 for each meeting of the
Audit Committee they attend.
