Logistics Lead

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, organised and motivated Logistics Lead to join an independent, family run, well-respected manufacturer and supplier of aluminium bronze and high alloy steel valves, established since 1953. Competitive salary based on experience and benefits.

The suitable applicant must have a keen eye for detail, willingness to learn and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. IT literacy is essential and also the willingness to roll up their sleeves and muck in. We are looking for an effective communicator who is keen to join our team and develop within the role.

Main Responsibilities:

* Liaise and negotiate with freight forwarders

* Arrange collections and despatches in-line with the shipping policy, using online portals where available

* Liaise with customers regarding deliveries and upsell logistics opportunities

* Manage costs and consider delivery consolidation

* Prepare export documentation as required by the contract, EUR1, C/O etc.

* Letter of Credit experience an advantage

* Produce despatch note, invoice and packing list

* Scan all invoicing and despatch documents for electronic filing

* Chase payments from customers with "payment prior to despatch" terms

* Additionally, provide holiday/absence cover for the Sales Administrator

Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate competencies / personal attributes:

* You will be able to demonstrate strong negotiation, relationship building skills along with good communication skills across different levels and disciplines both internally and externally with customers and suppliers.

* You will have the drive and motivation to deliver on-going cost reductions for the business, and you will be a clear and confident decision maker with excellent communication skills and a commercially focused approach

* You must be computer literate in Microsoft packages with a working knowledge of MRP systems, experience with EFACS would be advantageous but not essential
