Customer Service Advisor – Post F544 (23 hours per week)
Scale D (SCP 13-17) £22,021 - £23,836 pro-rata
We are looking for an enthusiastic and customer-focused individual to join Charnwood Borough Council’s Customer Services team, providing the public with face-to-face advice and information across a range of services provided by the Council and its partners.
Duties will include answering customer enquiries and requests relating to a variety of council services including Housing, Council Tax, Benefits, Licensing and Planning and processing these through to a satisfactory conclusion. You will also be required to signpost customers to other Council or partner services including the voluntary sector, to assist with personal budgeting, advice and welfare.
You will have proven experience of working in a busy frontline customer service environment and be capable of handling a range of situations with tact, diplomacy and empathy.
Excellent communication and listening skills, the ability to converse with all types of people and a polite and courteous attitude is a must, as is a commitment to providing excellent customer care. You will also be able to work well under pressure with a minimum of supervision while ensuring consistency and accuracy, and be confident with technology and the use of software systems, with good keyboard skills.
Experience of working in front-line council services and of using varied IT software and / or Customer Relationship Management systems would be an advantage but is not essential as full training will be provided.
You will be working 23 hours a week to a fixed working pattern (11am to 3:30pm Monday to Thursday, 11am to 4pm Friday) but will ideally be able to offer additional hours and some flexibility to help cover holidays or sickness if need be.
