Located in Cheshire in a small rural community on the outskjirts of Chester, we are currently working alongside a large Dairy farm who are looking to appoint a Dairy farm worker / Milker. To milk the herd and maintain the parlour and dairy whilst achieving high standards within the areas of hygiene, fertility, foot care and general husbandry.
Primary responsibilities:
* To milk the herd on a day to day basis to a high standard, informing the owner of any major activities/problems.
* Identify cows that require medical intervention, administer the treatment and update the medicine book.
* Maintain the parlour and dairy hygiene.
* Other jobs as and when required, including foot trimming, calf rearing etc.
Ideally to be considered for this role you will have the following skills / experience:
* At least 2-3 years experience of managing a dairy unit of 150+ cows.
* Working knowledge of Total mixed rations helping cows to achieve maximum performance.
* Working knowledge of - DIYAI/genetics/record keeping/
* Working knowledge of hygiene requirements as well as H & S regulations.
* Able to work unsupervised.
* Full UK driving licence
