Cheffins Fine Art department has an exciting opportunity for a full time Porter in their auction rooms.

The role involves a large amount of manual labour as the holder will be involved with lifting and moving auction lots in preparation for each auction sale.  

The position is full time Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm and you may also be required to occasionally work until 6pm on sale days.  

You will based at head office, Clifton House, Cambridge, CB1 7EA.  

The successful candidate will be responsible for working alongside the Saleroom Manager, setting up and clearing sales. 

Principal accountabilities will include;

• Lifting and moving heavy items
• Working at height, so must be competent in using ladders/step ladders
• Using auction software to book in and check out Lots
• Dealing with clients face to face when booking in and collecting lots
• Telephone bidding on behalf of buyers
• Online bidding on behalf of buyers

The successful candidate must have the following;

• Work experience in a customer facing environment
• Interest in Fine Art is not essential but would be desirable
• Good visual memory
• Computer literate and good knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Ability to be pro-active and an independent thinker but also the ability to work as part of a team
• Organised and able to work to tight deadlines
