Are you looking for an organisation that cares about the work-life balance of its workforce? An employer who offers structured personal development, progression opportunities and exceptional training? Well look no further.
Who are we?
We are the Valuation Office Agency (VOA), an executive agency of HM Revenue & Customs. It's our job to provide valuations and property advice to support taxation and benefits to the government and local authorities in England, Scotland and Wales. We also provide valuation and surveying services to public sector bodies.
Our people take on wide-ranging with major social impact. We value millions of UK properties - from airports to zoos. The work our people do underpins the collection of over GBP51 billion revenue that's vital in funding the UK's public services such as schools and hospitals.
The Role
You will work across a number of our teams and be responsible for managing a large individual caseload and conducting valuations and negotiations. You'll find immediately that you'll have a great breadth of work exposure, including the chance to work on some high-profile and unusual properties.
You will establish and maintain professional relationships with clients and agents, provide technical advice and oversee the quality assurance process. As you would expect, the role involves site visits to inspect properties of various classes and attendance at Valuation Tribunals, where you'll represent the Valuation Officer.
It is important that you can produce high-quality work to deadlines, so in addition to your professional qualifications, we'll want to see evidence that you can deliver at pace, make effective decisions and collaborate with others productively.
You'll need to understand the wider economic and commercial environment and have a good appreciation of legislation, case law and codes of practice. At the same time, you'll be surrounded by highly experienced and respected colleagues, who are able to help you develop your knowledge and professional practice. You will also benefit from excellent training and support.

• Provide demonstrable examples of your technical knowledge and the ability to show you apply your professional expertise, as well as legislation, case law and codes of practice to your decision-making
• Demonstrate strong analytical and judgement skills by interpreting a range of evidence to provide relevant advice, and reach sound conclusions
• Relevant technical knowledge.
• Have relevant experience and understanding of the commercial and economic environment.
