Becoming a Management Accountant with Capita Local Public Services
This role is part of a Finance Team, which supports the needs of the Regulatory Services business within Capita Local Public Services. The role of the team is to challenge the financial reporting and forecasting of the business, ensuring strong financial controls and procedures are in place, but also provide support and advice to the business via continual support to the operations teams.
The purpose of this role is to provide financial support, management and challenge within the business, enabling the Profit Centre Managers to deliver their monthly Profit Centre information and reporting in a timely and safe manner, as well as aiding effective and efficient management of, and decision making within their respective operational units.
What you will do:
SAP/Desktop Housekeeping
* Ensuring project income and cost to complete forecasts are updated and maintained, in liaison with Project Managers and /or Profit Centre Managers
* Regular review and updating of SAP cost rates/charge-out rates, in liaison with Profit Centre Managers
* Processing of journal entries
* Ensuring consistency of project structures and ability to provide advice to managers
Invoice Processing (Accounts receivable and payable)
* Review of Work in Progress, ensuring accurate and timely issue of sales invoices
* Ensure all Project re-imbursable/expenses are recovered from Client, as appropriate
Profit Centre Financial Management and MOB Reporting
* Carry out regular and timely analysis of staff efficiency and utilisation and liaise with PM's/PCM's regarding outputs/results
* Production of mid month position reports, including analysis & interpretation of the results
* Completion of monthly actual and forecast variance analysis, including Project profitability analysis
* Profit Centre reviews, challenge and update of monthly forecasts within the forecasting system (Axiom), ensuring adequate supporting detail and backup is provided and recorded
* Preparation and review of cost accruals in support of the month end reporting process
* Review of monthly WIP calculations - including regular challenge and calculation of static WIP
* Ensuring accurate and timely production of monthly financial and KPI reports
* Support Finance Manager and Profit Centre managers with the production of stretching but achievable annual Business Plan forecasts
* Working Capital Management
Your experience will include:
Essential
* Newly qualified or working towards a Professional Accountancy qualification such as CIMA/ACCA etc.
* Microsoft Office experience including excellent Excel skills
* Attention to detail
* Strong Management Accounting experience, including dealing with Work in Progress
Desirable
* Project Accounting experience
* Experience of working in both private and public sectors
* Resource Utilisation
* Use of SAP
