THE OPPORTUNITY

We are currently looking to recruit a bright and ambitious Projects Senior Associate to join our team in Edinburgh. With a strong Scottish, UK and international presence, our Projects team is one of the UK's leading national practices.

We act for private and public sector clients (including international Governments), funders, and consortia, across a range of sectors, including social infrastructure projects, transport and waste, in the UK and Internationally. We understand the commercial, strategic, technical, geographical and political factors that shape and impact our clients, and our market leading presence allows us first-hand access to contacts, sponsors and key decision makers worldwide. We are currently working on a number of exciting pathfinders in the industry.

The role will be based in our Edinburgh office, but the candidate will be part of a One UK Team and will also be required to travel to our other offices from time to time.

The position offers an excellent opportunity to play a leading role in high profile and path-finding transactions across the UK and Internationally.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Candidates will have a broad diet of work, that will include, but not be limited to:

Advising private and public sector clients, funders and consortia on UK Public Private Partnerships (PPPs), across sectors. As well as advising on the procurement and negotiation of projects up to financial close, our work frequently sees us providing advice and support to our clients post-close, during the construction and operational phases.
Advice in the Health, Education and Transport sectors, in particular.
Public Procurement (domestic and international).
International Infrastructure Projects, including regulatory drafting and PPP toolkits.

ABOUT YOU

We do not set upper or lower limits of PQE for any of our vacancies. We have however given an indicative PQE as an approximate guide for applicants. Candidates who have between 7 to 9 years PQE are likely to have the right level of knowledge and have gained the right level of experience needed to be able to undertake this role.
An ability to lead and project manage a number of high profile cases independently.
Experience negotiating project agreements, sub-contracts and ancillary project documents, with limited supervision, during all phases of the project cycle.
Experience leading on the dialogue phase of PPP-type projects would be beneficial.
Experience advising on public procurement would be beneficial.
Commercially astute and stays current on key legal and business news.
Excellent skills in communication, client relations, and team-working.
Provides a professional, quality service in a timely manner, and responds effectively to requests from internal and external clients.
Understands positive client support.
Creates confidence in the team and the firm.
Works co-operatively in a team, sharing information and knowledge.
Manages time effectively and efficiently.
