Nesta runs around 100 events a year, the largest of which is FutureFest - a programme of events comprising of an annual festival across five stages and a series of associated events that take place throughout the year. The programme explores different versions of the future, and creates a space for more optimistic, challenging, and enlivening views of what may lie ahead.
About this key role
You will take the lead on designing and managing the programme delivery process for all events in the year-round FutureFest series, including acting as the main point of contact and coordinator for all external and internal programme contributors and speakers, as well as providing solution-focused advice about feasibility of booking, negotiating fees and costs, and managing the briefing process.
You will also guide and manage a wide range of contributors with diverse skills and expertise through a carefully designed collaborative process of content creation and support the development and production of installations and immersive experiences by managing multiple mini-teams. Plus, you will:
- Lead on designing and managing the programme schedule
- Contribute to content creation by advising on content ideas and building partnership opportunities
- Lead on the overall events series and the coordination of the programming, communications and the production functions of the project
- Manage the programming of Nesta's In Conversation series by sourcing ideas, booking and briefing speakers and coordinating the delivery of the events, including event production and marketing
What we are looking for
You will have experience in a similar role, ideally for a creative project, with a proven ability to plan, create and maintain an effective production schedule for multiple functions in all phases of programme development. You will also have a sound understanding of all elements of managing a festival and a year-round series of events, including event production, marketing, ticketing, digital, media and partnerships,
An inspiring leader and outstanding communicator, you must have excellent interpersonal, project management and negotiating skills, while a proven interest in, and some knowledge of, festival themes such as futures, science and emerging technology, the arts, cities and design is also vital.
