Essar Oil UK is a leading UK-focussed downstream energy company whose main asset is the Stanlow Manufacturing Complex, one of the most advanced refineries in Europe and situated close to the major cities of Liverpool and Manchester.  Stanlow is a key strategic national asset, annually producing over 16% of the UK’s road transport fuels, while playing an important part in Britain’s petrochemical industry by providing key feedstocks.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Head of IT Operations to join our team in Ellesmere Port. The purpose of this position is to lead, develop and maintain the IT Operations for Essar by managing the infrastructure, application support and enhancement services company-wide. 

You will proactively identify and advise the Chief Information Officer on all IT operations strategies, resources and optimisation opportunities. Principle accountabilities of this position include designing, implementing and executing short and long term strategic road map for IT operations, ensuring all operations are in line and compliant with Business Continuity Plans. You will also be accountable for IT Opex spends and optimisation as well as IT asset integrity, emergency response and business continuity. 

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in a similar IT operations management position as well as being certified in ITIL & ISO27000. Industry experience in Energy, Manufacturing, Oil & Gas would be highly advantageous, and the ability to lead and manage delivery through internal and external vendor specialist teams is essential. You must also have experience of handling design, development and support of the application and infrastructure operations management across different functional domains in IT.
