South Thames College Group are now looking to appoint an energetic and talented Assistant Principal Curriculum & Performance to work across Carshalton and Merton Colleges and take on a cross-group responsibility for Apprenticeships.

The STC Group was created in 2017 out of a merger of Kingston, Carshalton and South Thames Colleges. Led by Peter Mayhew-Smith, STCG has established itself as one of the top Colleges in London. Recently released National Achievement Rate Tables show that STCG has made impressive progress since its creation, and we are keen to continue making this progress. The Assistant Principal Curriculum & Performance will be a key part of this journey driving further improvement at Carshalton and Merton Colleges, whilst taking on cross Group role to lead on Apprenticeships.

Within this role, you will lead the strategic development and quality improvement of the curriculum in line with the South Thames Colleges Group (STCG) objectives. With new Ofsted EIF placing curriculum at its heart, this is a wide ranging role covering student outcomes, quality improvement, student engagement and destinations. Reporting to the College Principal this role will drive further robust quality improvement at Carshalton and Merton Colleges whilst also initially taking a cross College lead on Apprenticeships.

In conjunction with other senior leaders, the Assistant Principal will take a lead role in ensuring the College is well informed about developments in the further education and employment sector, that have a direct bearing on our own study programme and adult learning programmes. A key accountability, therefore, is in ensuring that the College’s current and future FE curriculum fulfils Government strategy and meets the needs of the local and regional economic environment.

In order to be successful in this role, you will possess a Degree or appropriate professional qualification and will have significant and successful experience of teaching and learning in Further Education, in particular proven success of driving improvement and securing strong outcomes for students.

The ideal candidate will have thorough understanding of the FE sector and significant and demonstrable experience of quality improvement within a further education college, including the development of curricula suited to the needs of employers. Excellent people management and data analysis skills are a must. If you think you have the required experience, drive and skills to be successful in this role then we’d like to hear from you.

Closing date for the return of an online application form is 28 June 2019.
