Our Client  

Garry is a young man in the prime of life, he loves football, computer games, films, photography and going to the pub. He is also profoundly deaf, on the autistic spectrum and has learning difficulties.  

Garry is wheelchair-bound but loves to get out for social activities, goes to the pub to watch Man United play and goes bowling. He’s a happy, friendly person who communicates via sign language and has a sleeping pattern of about 15 hours per day.  

Garry would like to interview male Care Support Workers to create a bespoke care service in his own home. Various working hours are available.

You’ll be provided with full training from external professionals and will have the chance to forge an amazing bond with your team as well as Garry. What’s more, for the right person the hourly wage is around double the average for care work in Devon and so this role is rewarding in every aspect.  

Your Role  

As a Care Support Worker, you will be tasked with supporting Garry through his day-to-day activities.  

Working as part of a team of carers who look after Garry, you’ll take him out for walks, down to the pub and assist in his daily life.  

Garry has a wheelchair accessible vehicle which you will use to transport him around the local area and so you will need a valid driving licence. Various hours are available, including full time and part time options.  

About You  

To be considered as Garry’s Care Support Worker, you will need:  

- A BSL Level 1 qualification and the willingness to work towards Level 2  
- A full, valid driving licence  

Due to the nature of this role, only male applicants will be progressed as this is a genuine occupational requirement as covered by the Sex Discrimination Act 1975.  

Experience of working across the social care sector would be beneficial to your application. At least six months’ experience with a relevant social care qualification would also be an advantage.  

Certifications in First Aid, Food Hygiene and Health and Safety would also be favourable.
