Are you ready for a new challenge?

Now is the opportunity to get involved in the exciting area of pension fund accounting. The Avon Pension Fund is administered by Bath & North East Somerset Council and manages the pension fund for a range of employers within the old Avon County Council area. With a current value of c. £4.6bn., it is one of the largest local authority pension funds in the UK.

You will be part of the Finance and Accountancy Team working within the Fund. You will partake in preparing and monitoring the Fund’s budget of c. £35m: making regular reconciliations of pensions accounts and preparing the final accounts. You will assist in the receipt and allocation of £150m contributions per annum and in developing the systems that ensure that this is done accurately and efficiently. You will also be responsible for providing financial information to employers, the actuary and others.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to gain a broad range of financial experience with the opportunity of advancement. Applicants should have a full professional accountancy qualification (finalists will also be considered), with a minimum of three years of experience - preferably in a large multifunctional organisation.

You will have good communication skills, enjoy working in a team and have specific experience of designing, implementing and managing financial systems.

Benefits include flexible working, an annual leave entitlement of up to 30 days and membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme.
