The United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO) have an exciting opportunity for Concept Developer to develop innovative solutions for world leading products that save lives, increase economic capability and protect the environment.

UKHO provides high quality marine geospatial information and data to the seafaring industries, our products are used to navigate the waters safely – ultimately enabling a multitude of clients to achieve optimum results and drive their organisations’ profitability.

As a Concept Developer, you will join our Research Innovation and Integration team and support the business to successfully bring to market new products and services.  Although advice and guidance will be available, you will be able to take ownership of activities and offer creative, as well as innovative solutions.  As you will be working in different areas, this role will offer a variety of challenges and enable you to work with a wide range of colleagues.

A wide range of technical skills (analytical, software development, architecture, databases, data science) are also required to make sense of initiatives.  To successfully explore a problem and offer proactive solutions, strong investigative and fact-finding skills are also required. Advising senior stakeholders and colleagues on technical concepts, you will be able to build positive working relationships, as well as present information in a concise manner.

You will be shortlisted and interviewed against the following profiles:

Technical

  • Programming experience such as JavaScript, Python, Scala, Spark, Java, SQL etc.
  • Broad understanding and interest in computing, geospatial information and geospatial data and problem solving

Experience

  • Experience of working in a fast paced and complex environment, dealing with a variety of short-term projects.
