Our public sector client have a requirement for a GSI/Spatial Data Analyst for a temporary contract until the end of March 2020. The successful candidate will be based in the Edinburgh or Stirling office, with occasional travel potentially required within working hours for meetings. The vacancy attracts the equivalent of a day rate of GBP108.
Applicants must have a Basic Disclosure Scotland clearance, issued within the last year.
The role will entail support work to test and develop methods for appraising and prioritising actions, support collation of spatial information to develop the Flood Risk Management Strategies.
Duties will include:
- basic statistical analysis
- production of charts, figures, simple infographics
- helping undertake structured testing of existing scoring and weighting methods
- preparing material to support stakeholder engagement
- collating and analysing stakeholder returns
- supporting regional planning managers in delivering effective local partnership working
- quality checking received data
- version control of received data
- preparation of data sharing documentation
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Report writing
- Document technical procedures undertaken and produce technical guidance material - Minute-taking
- Ability to transfer information and provide explanations of complex technical matters
- Ability to review and organise spatial data efficiently. Familiarity with ArcGIS suite of tools and spatial databases is essential
- Understand the use of spatial data in flood modelling
- Experience of using ArcSDE / Oracle is advantageous
Relevant Qualifications:
Degree or other qualification in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) or relevant degree with comparable work experience using Geographical Information Systems
