Role: Regulatory Policy Analyst - Energy and Utilities

Location: Leatherhead

Salary: GBP - GBP

In the Energy and Utilities industry, licences are granted by Ofgem and as such, are heavily regulated. In addition to meeting day to day regulatory obligations, the industry is also impacted by a number of industry changes, often driven by new and changing government and Ofgem policy.Timely Recruit is recruiting a Regulatory Policy Analyst.

We are lookingfor a dynamic, switched on person to join the Energy and Utilities Regulation team. We will consider experience in any industry who has experience with compliance and regulation.

Job Purpose:

Regulations team is responsible for the management of a wide array of changes, risks and issues relating to contracts, charging methodologies/models, operational issues, IT systems and business processes.

Summary of main duties and responsibilities:

  • Represent organisation's interests at industry forums and through consultations.
  • Own internal and external regulatory reporting.
  • Shape industry change and policy for the future.
  • Represent organisations by responding to consultations and participating in industry working groups, while helping to develop changes to energy industry systems and processes that positively impact consumers.
  • Manage organisation's standard regulatory reporting to the regulator and industry code bodies.
  • Administer and maintain organisation's Regulatory Compliance Framework and the associated management tools, ensuring robust management of compliance and regulatory change.
  • Lead and/or participate in cross functional internal projects, where regulatory support is required, ensuring efficient delivery of each project's objectives.
  • Oversee and manage any escalated operational queries, ensuring such queries are resolved within any regulatory timescales.
  • Provide ad hoc regulatory support to different departments, as required.
  • Indirect management of colleagues in other departments will be required in order to ensure policies and frameworks are adhered to.

Attributes and Experience

To be successful you must have:

  • A natural ability to plan and organise in order to achieve objectives and targets.
  • The ability to manage conflict effectively in order to achieve desired outcomes while maintaining positive relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Experience of regulated industries.
  • Experience of energy innovation projects and/or policy development; and
  • Knowledge of business processes.
  • Proficient with MS Office.
  • 2-3 years' experience in any Regulation industry, including experience of.
    • Analysis and implementation of change.
    • Work within (or leading) project teams.
    • Written and verbal communication of complex ideas.
  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues and external parties.
  • Degree educated with strong academic background
