Our client is currently seeking a Transport Planner on a shift pattern of 4 on 4 off nights to work directly with the Senior Planning Team to execute the daily plan effectively. You will be an excellent communicator in both verbal and written format and be pro-active and efficient in your dealings with the senior planning team.
 
Within this role you will be required to work autonomously to achieve your goals with specific attention to customers service, driver liaison and ensuring all deliveries and collections are on time every time.  You will be also be required to foresee and pre-empt potential issues before they arise and take remedial action.
 
Your main responsibilities will include managing the Planning email communication with senior planners, supporting senior planners with requested activity, to include contacting drivers or subcontractors and communicating plans to drivers / subcontractors. You’ll plan the execution and communicate issues to relevant senior planners and customer services, will debrief drivers to ensure actual times, trailer no’s and demurrage are recorded in line with expectations and will support senior planners with driver hours and timesheet management.
 
Our ideal candidate will be educated to GCSE level or equivalent with experience of working within a similar planning role with a strong understanding of the transport industry and knowledge of TMS or demonstratable experience and systems knowledge. CPC, Class 1 Licence and/or Customer Service Level 2 or 3 qualifications would be advantageous. 
 
We are welcoming applications from candidates with the ability to interpret and translate facts and information in order to explain situations and issues to people and follow pre-defined steps, methods or approaches but with the ability to modify and adapt when required. Knowledge of construction-based customers and the requirements for project sites would also be a significant advantage. The ability to think quickly and manage multiple activities into an overall plan, while coordinating with other stakeholders is also essential.
