The Role

This is a unique opportunity to join an ambitious fundraising team striving to secure funds for vulnerable children in need of specialist therapeutic care. The post holder will be able to grow their role to build a portfolio of potential donors and projects. This is a pivotal role within the Fundraising Team, working closely with the Fundraising Director to maintain and develop support from donors and grant making organisations to meet financial targets.

This role provides an opportunity to play an active role in steering the direction of the charity's fundraising and to use your own dynamic and creative thinking to take Childhood First in new directions. There is ample opportunity to learn and grow under the mentorship of the Fundraising Director with the potential to play a key role in shaping future fundraising strategy. Key activities and responsibilities:

1. Build a new portfolio of supporters from Trusts and private donors

Research trusts, lottery bodies, companies, statutory agencies and other sources of funds creating and maintaining meticulous records of these potential donors.
Liaise with Childhood First colleagues to identify both revenue and capital activities that can be packaged as projects and obtain information required for funding proposals.
Match potential donors with projects.
Establish a framework for evaluating and continually improving the success of trusts and statutory fundraising
Ensure timely reporting to donors showing impact of their grants and donations

2. Supporting applications and relationships

Work closely with the Fundraising Director to develop relevant funding bids and build relationships with potential donors
Follow up applications and monitor progress.
Ensure all funders receive the appropriate acknowledgement, recognition and required feedback in line with their specific requirements.
Ensure that all funders receive timely and relevant correspondence and updates about the work of the charity.
Ensure outstanding customer service and record-keeping for all trusts and statutory accounts.
Liaise with Childhood First colleagues to monitor development progress on funded projects.

3. Communications and Events

Support the Fundraising Director in the production of fundraising literature, reports, case studies and internal communications including preparing written content.
Ensure that necessary information for trusts and statutory fundraising is suitably presented on the website.
Provide administrative support for cultivation events as required.

4. Administration, records and cost control

Effectively create and maintain up-to-date trusts and statutory fundraising records.
Provide monthly status updates on trusts and statutory income to the Fundraising Director, to inform ongoing fundraising planning and continual evaluation and improvement.

5. General

Undertake additional tasks as required.
Work closely and cooperatively with staff across Childhood First, in accordance with the charity's values.

Person Specification

This role would suit someone looking to develop their fundraising career
Educated to degree level or equivalent
Minimum 2 years' fundraising experience in the charity sector
Experience of using and maintaining CRM
Flexible and adaptable approach

Experience

Minimum 2 years in not for profit sector in a fundraising role
Experience of raising funds from Trusts and Foundations or transferable skills
Demonstrable experience of nurturing valued relationships.
