About you

Are you passionate about enabling women with multiple-complex needs to achieve their goals? Got experience of working directly with vulnerable people in a person centred approach? Want to work for an organisation that helps people build brighter futures for themselves and their families? Our Case Worker role could be the perfect fit for you!

If so, the role of Caseworker may be the role for you.

About us

Changing Lives is a national charity that supports over 17,000 people each year. We are a well-respected, growing organisation dedicated to supporting the most vulnerable people across the UK.

In the East Midlands, we currently run services supporting women in the Criminal Justice System –supported from our Nottingham base, operating mainly from HMP Foston Hall and Probation sites. Our support is on an outreach basis and we engage women right across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.

This role is to support women involved in the Criminal Justice System, helping them to overcome personal challenges that might cause them to reoffend. We support women to establish a life away from crime, resettle into society and avoid reoffending.

We also provide programmes and support services to help women who are, or at risk of being, sexually exploited and involved in sex work or ‘survival sex’. Our support is non-judgemental: we help women identify the choices they have, and help them make the best decision for them and their future.

We’re looking for committed and compassionate professionals who share our enthusiasm for changing lives.

About the job

Please note this post exempt under section 7 (2) (e) and (f) of The Sex Discrimination Act 1975 and therefore open to female applicants only. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

We have an exciting opportunity available for a Case Worker within our HMPPS European Social Fund Round 3 Service in the East Midlands. The post holder will support women prior to release from HMP Foston Hall in Derbyshire, and offering support to women on license across the Leicestershire area. The role includes flexibility to travel within working hours as required, including monthly team meetings in Nottingham.

As a Case Worker you will be responsible for engaging with and supporting women in custody and community. This includes one-to-one support planning, goal setting, and group work. Working collaboratively with partner organisations, Offender Managers and prisons to provide holistic, person centred services in relation to addressing the underlying causes of their offending behaviour; as well as information and guidance in relation to referrals to partner organisations.

The successful candidate will have a strong awareness of managing risk, be a non-judgemental listener, and take a pragmatic approach to responding to challenges that the women face. Knowledge of local Leicestershire services would be a distinct advantage.

Confirmation of successful employment in this role is subject to prison clearance, in addition to DBS and standard pre-employment checks.
