Deputy Information Governance Manager and Data Protection Officer
£42,125 to £49,558 (subject to skills)

This role supports the Information Governance Manager and Data Protection Officer (DPO) in ensuring that our client is structured, strategic, and consolidated in its approach to Information Governance, embedding best practice and compliance with statutory information governance responsibilities.

You will manage and support a small team to ensure the information request caseload is managed appropriately and statutory deadlines are met. As part of this work you will advise the business on complex information requests and ensure the quality of responses produced. This work will involve working closely with all areas of the business, where building strong relationships will play a key role in delivering work efficiently.

You will work with the Information Governance Manager to oversee the Data Breach reporting processes. Along with other members of our client's Information Team you will develop and deliver Freedom of Information and Data Protection (Information Governance) training to ensure the business adheres to processes and policies.

You will deputise for the Information Governance Manager and DPO in their absence. This may include advising the organisation, including the Senior Leadership Team and Council, on complex information governance matters, managing complaints to the DPO, taking decisions on notifying the ICO of data breaches, and managing the relationship with the Information Commissioner’s Office in their absence.

Our client is looking for a passionate and experienced data privacy professional who enjoys working with people across an organisation to identify compliance weakness and implement improvements. You will not only have technical knowledge and qualifications in your field, but you will also have the experience and strong management skills to manage a team and advise and support staff at all levels of an organisation.

Our client is committed to equality and diversity. They encourage and support the recruitment, retention and career development of people from as wide a range as possible of ethnic, cultural and social backgrounds.

To reward you for your hard work and commitment, they offer an attractive benefits package that includes a generous pension scheme, flexible working and 25 days’ annual leave (pro rata) plus bank holidays.
