We are bpha. Amongst the other amazing things we do, we are a dynamic and ambitious Housing Association based in Bedford, operating throughout the Oxford to Cambridge growth arc. We have in excess of 18,500 homes and employ over 400 staff.
 
We are pleased to now have an excellent opportunity for a Health and Safety Coordinator to join us, reporting to our Cyclical Works Officer.
 
This role is pivotal in ensuring that bpha is compliant in all areas of the business surrounding health & safety, due to recent significant changes in legislation. This is achieved by monitoring, recording and tracking of all associated works to ensure that they are completed and proactively making arrangement for improvements where possible.
 
You will have a critical level of responsibility in this role including:
 
Ensuring that a robust process is in place for managing the servicing contracts and provide weekly updates for critical services relating to health & safety.
Administering servicing / testing contracts including ensuring contract details are correct, equipment is correctly recorded, checking certificates for compliance, liaising with contractors over access
Instigating appropriate legal action where access to properties is denied for gas safety check or electrical test
 
Due to the important nature of this role you will need to evidence a professional and customer-focussed method to the planning and performance of your previous experience.
 
You will thrive in this role if you can demonstrate:
 
Previous excellent customer care skills
A good working knowledge of MS office and excel and any other specialist software packages
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Needs to be able to work autonomously
 
Please note that there is potential for these contracts to be extended/become permanent if there is a change in circumstances.
