My client is a vibrant and growing charity delivering life changing adventures for young people to give them the best possible head start in life.
The primary purpose of the Senior Communications Officer (Media & PR) is to lead on delivering flexible, cost effective and class-leading media communications to enable the charity to achieve objectives across campaigns, fundraising and policy. To manage media communications activities, delivered In-house or outsourced as appropriate.
KEY RESPONSIBLITIES
* To work with the Director to manage and enhance the charity's image.
* To proactively explore opportunities for media coverage and to establish effective media links to raise the profile of the organisation.
* To support efforts in growing the charity's social media and digital presence across its existing platforms.
* To lead and coordinate integrated media campaigns, alongside digital media, for maximum coverage.
* To identify relevant tools and tactics to enhance communications (case studies, celebrity, articles, quotes, posts and comments).
* To monitor, evaluate and report on all activity.
* To lead on communicating with internal and external stakeholders on sensitive media matters.
* To ensure marketing principles and guidelines are communicated to internal and external stakeholders.
* To build effective networks with colleagues and provide advice and expertise to staff regarding all aspects of their public profile.
* To assist in providing an out of hours media office service.
* To be responsible for copywriting of publications and resources, both internal and external, such as magazines and annual reviews.
Senior Communications Officer Person Specification:
* Degree or equivalent experience in communications
* Experience in a similar role
* Experience developing and maintaining good working relations with journalists and media specialists
* Excellent written and verbal skills with good attention to detail
* Some experience of crisis management and media handling and the sensitivities
* Experience of working with teams and divisions
* Initiating and planning media campaigns: defining goals, analysing problems and opportunities and liaising with management and clients
* Experience advising senior managers on high profile media matters
