Neighbourhood Officer, Slough

A Berkshire based Local Authority are recruiting for a Neighbourhood Officer, to lead on the delivery of quality consistent and pro-active housing and tenancy management services to a range of tenure types with a view to supporting and strengthening sustainable communities.

The Role

Your key duties within the role will include the following:

1.To provide a comprehensive housing management service within a specified geographic area to our customers and neighbourhoods dealing with:

•Management and breaches of tenancy/leaseholder agreements

•Estate management/monitoringRent arrears management

•Anti-social behaviour

•Risk management

•Contract monitoring

•Recharges

•Caretaking and delivery of communal services

•Tenancy sustainment and support visits

2.Deliver against an agreed improvement plan for the assigned area in consultation with residents and help deliver the corporate 5 year business plan and objectives. The plan should reflect the needs of the area with reference to the profile of residents and the physical characteristics.

3.Ensure the housing management and environmental services provided to residents are coordinated and of an excellent standard and conform to relevant statutory requirements and best practice.

4.Deliver housing services that are inclusive and accessible to our vulnerable customers.

5.Carrying out safeguarding referrals and working with related agencies as necessary to protect and support our customers.

6.Ensure that all complaints, incidents of ASB and harassment are investigated and dealt with in accordance with Slough policies and procedures.

7.Identify opportunities for service improvements and make recommendations to the Tenancy Team Leader/Neighbourhood Manager. Ensure changes are introduced and implemented effectively and efficiently in the area.

8.Support a variety of inclusive and effective customer involvement opportunities in the area linked to the Council's Resident Involvement structure.

9.Ensure residents have the opportunity to influence and shape policies, service delivery, standards and scrutinise performance.

10.Support Slough's strategy in the local area and contribute to wider improvement projects as requested by the Tenancy Team Leader/Neighbourhood Manager.

11.Ensure compliance with, and promotion of Slough Health & Safety Management and policies, and ensure housing management equality and diversity services embrace this.

The Candidate

To be considered for this role you must have experience of estate inspections and tenancy management. Experience in accommodation planning and a good knowledge of all legislative and regulatory frameworks. Good knowledge of law and best practice as it relates to the provision of housing services including safeguarding.

The Contract

This is a contact starting ASAP on a 12 week contract, working 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
