We are looking for a motivated, technically competent policy planner with a strong customer service and community engagement ethos. You will be supporting the policy team during a Regulation 18 consultation for a new Local Plan that is underway, and starting work on development of the new Local Plan. This will include setting up and running engagements and meetings, developing policy options and appraising them, assessing the evidence base to identify gaps and develop policy, and preparing a range of statutory and non-statutory documentation.
The right candidate has strong time and project management skills and will be able to independently manage a wide range of tasks. They will engage with the community and stakeholders, carry out all necessary consultations, contribute to the project management of the local plan process, ensure work is undertaken with a sound understanding of the most up to date national and regional context, develop innovative solutions to the borough's challenges and issues, and help develop and assess policy options and preferred approaches using the objectives agreed during the scoping of the Integrated Impact Assessment. They will also update senior officers and Member as necessary.
The role is based in the beautiful and historic Kingston town centre. Your work will stretch across the borough, from the River Thames to the Green Belt bordering Surrey. You will join a friendly, supportive and professional team.
Although the role is full-time, please get in touch to discuss any part-time or have flexible work arrangements you may have. This role is needed during a restructure, and if you enjoy working with us, there may be opportunities to join us in a permanent role in the future.
You will be needed to attend meetings from time to time outside of normal working hours.
