Specific Responsibilities & Duties
To deputise for the manager when he/she is not available and to direct other staff as appropriate
To help recruit, manage and motivate the staff at the Boat and help ensure that rotas are efficient, fair and in line with pre-agreed budgets.
To help ensure that the culture within the pub is a happy one and that everyone is well trained and knows exactly what they are supposed to do when.
To look after customers with warmth and smiles as if they were important guests in your own home and to make sure that other staff do the same.
To help make sure that all products sold to customers are of the highest order, are to spec' and done so in a swift, efficient and friendly manner.
To help choose and influence the sourcing of products, primarily local or regional, to sell to our customers that are of the highest standards and that will deliver an overall GP of 70%. The is includes food, beer, wines, spirits and soft drinks.
To help ensure that the highest standard of hygiene, due diligence and health and safety is maintained at all times.
To make sure that all stock and cash is managed, accounted for and reconciled according to the daily, weekly and monthly routines
To help run the business as a whole in a sustainable and profitable manner
To always ensure that the premises and its contents are managed in a safe and secure way and that any doors that should be kept locked are done so at the appropriate times
General Responsibilities
Comply with all Company policies and procedures, especially health and safety.
Be flexible and adaptable and take a proactive approach to work
Undertake such other duties as may reasonably be required
Essential Qualifications
Good general education
Current, clean driving licence and/or organised reliable transport to work
Experience in hospitality, catering or retail
Desirable Qualifications
Further Education qualifications
Management qualification
Skills, Experience and Attributes
Passionate and knowledgeable about food, beer and wines
Excellent management skills and financial understanding
Happy to be a decision maker and give staff direction
Great at training and supporting team members
Experience of cellar management and cask beers in particular
Excellent organisational skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Good team worker
The ability to prioritise and work under pressure
Ability to use own initiative and work with minimum supervision
Flexible approach to work
Smart appearance& good standard of hygiene (N.B any tattoos must be discrete and covered. Modest ear piercings and nose studs are fine but other metalwork should be removed when working).
