We are a specialist residential children’s homes which caters for children and young people with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs. We are now looking to recruit a number of residential staff to work within our children’s specialist short break services based in Romiley & Cheadle, Stockport
We are recruiting for Support Workers to work day time shifts between the hours of 0700hrs – 2200hrs and have full time and part time contracts available.
As our Residential Support Worker…
You will support children aged from 5 to 18 years of age, being a positive and supportive role model. You will encourage young people to develop confidence, self-esteem and essential life skills. As part of our team, you will work hard to empower our young people, help them break through barriers and experience a range of varied opportunities and activities.
As a Qualified Residential Support Worker, you will work part of a team to support the young people in all aspect of care, our aim is to give the young people we support within our short break homes the opportunity to experience new and fun adventures or that they may not always be able to engage in regularly whilst at home. We also support our young people to engage in therapy & sensory sessions which are bespoke and enjoyable.
Qualified Residential Staff will be actively involved working closely with families and other professionals around the children we support including education staff, healthcare professionals and attending healthcare appointments. Preparing monthly and daily reports, mentoring and supervising new staff members, you will communicate effectively with parents and carers, be responsible for administration of medication, daily reporting and personal care within morning and evening routines. A number of the young people we support may need assistance with all aspects of personal care, such as bathing and toileting, getting dressed.
Some others require encouragement and support to be able to become more independent.
Also a number of the young people we support have complex health needs this may mean we they need support with feeding and drinking via a gastrostomy site rather than orally, others may require oral suction or Oxygen therapy. Others may have high levels of autism and therefore require greater level of understanding and patience. We have clear plans and guidelines which are regularly reviewed by the relevant professionals.
Importantly, you will provide a fun and nurturing environment at all times and be able to manage challenging situations and behaviour with the support of your team and regular training.

Experience of working with children and young people is essential. We are looking for candidates that have a real desire for a challenging and rewarding role and a genuine interest in developing your skills through the training we offer.
As our teams provide 24/7 support, you will need to be flexible and willing to work shifts over a 7 day week. You will hold a QCF Level 3 in Caring for Young People within a residential setting or an equivalent qualification.
Due to the nature of this role, you will also be required to take part in a reasonable number of sleep in shifts in addition to the 37.5 hours
Candidates with a full, clean driving license are encouraged to apply.
