About the role
Here at Babcock we're looking to recruit several Fabricators to join the team working at Devonport Royal Dockyard. As a Fabricator you'll play an integral role in ensuring the serviceability of the Royal Navy fleet through detailed maintenance and refit periods by working within multi-trade teams. You'll co-ordinate structural alterations and repairs onboard ships and submarines.
You'll be working to engineering drawings and technical specifications; manufacture structural modules; fabricate and alter structures in a variety of metals and thickness, and you'll carry out surveys and pre-refit examinations of bulkheads and marine structural systems.
What do I need to do the role?
You'll need to be able to read engineering drawings and interpret work instructions; be competent in the use of hand held oxy-fuel burning tools and general workshop machinery and tools specific to fabricating (grinders, disc cutters, guillotines and band saws)
Ideally you will have worked in the marine industry with experience of Royal Navy ships and submarines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels or large commercial ships although other relevant experience will be considered.
You'll also need to hold qualifications in at least one of the following:
* Indentured Apprenticeship
* Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship in a sheet metal, structural steel or fabrication related discipline
* Level 3 Engineering qualification relevant to the role

We offer a competitive salary, where you have the opportunity to increase your earnings through shift and overtime allowing you to potentially take home around GBP35,000 annually. Alongside this there is a contributing pension scheme of up to 8% employer contributions.
