Electro-Optic Sensors Scientist

Pershore Area - 37 hours per week

Due to recent company expansion we are looking to recruit an experienced scientist (Physics background, or similar) to supplement our electro-optical systems assessment team at our Pershore facility, based in Worcestershire.

The successful applicant will become part of a small team of experienced scientists carrying out evaluation of electro-optical sensor systems, both in the laboratory and in the field. Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate a strong theoretical understanding of the electro-magnetic spectrum (from ultraviolet to the far-infrared), optics and atmospheric propagation, as well as more practical skills such as utilising test equipment in a laboratory environment and undertaking field trials.

From the beginning you will be responsible for leading the delivery of some of these activities, under the guidance of the Technical Director. You will have the opportunity to suggest new topic areas of work within the scope of a long term wide-ranging project for one of our major customers, and to win new work.

As part of the role, there will also be the opportunity to help develop the UK's largest low-light level test laboratory as part of the current renovation works and shape the future of this facility as it moves forward.

Whilst the role is based near Pershore, the post will require the successful candidate to be willing to undertake occasional travel within the UK or abroad in support of project or business activities and to occasionally work outside of normal working hours. We encourage our technical staff to attend relevant conferences when these occur.

The successful candidate will be required to:

* Assess and evaluate electro-optical sensor systems against agreed test methodologies

* Design and implement new and improved test methodologies

* Produce high quality reports and presentations for customers and other stakeholders

* Participate in the bidding and winning of new work in the EO systems testing and other areas

* Contribute to and support the R&D and trials aspects of our work for other customers

In return we offer a salary in the region of GBP35k - GBP45k per annum, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (rising to 30 days after 5 years), overtime potential, death in service benefit, and a generous pension scheme with matched contributions of up to 10% of salary.
