Description

Property and land acquisition at HS2 is a challenge at the epicentre of Europe's largest infrastructure project. The high speed rail link between London, Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds is set to become the backbone of Britain's transport network. And will raise the benchmark for innovative, safe and sustainable engineering.

We need to make smart planning, design and business decisions so its build has the least impact on the environment too. In short, if you want a role with complexity and impact: look no further. Here, you'll acquire land that sparks regenerative and commercial development on a truly grand scale.

Delivering HS2

In practice, you'll develop good relationships with a variety of high profile stakeholders. Time is always of the essence. And these are often complex and challenging acquisitions covering properties across cities and large stretches of rural land.

Taking on a portfolio of cases, you'll lead parliamentary petitions that help us realise the HS2 vision, and oversee the negotiations and relationships with the people supplying the land we need. And as you do so, you'll sympathetically settle deals taking into account every stakeholders' interests, and our own budgets and policies.

As a subject expert, you'll also help to shape a consistent team approach and advise others across the HS2 project on all manner of issues.

Qualifications

Putting your expertise to the test

Technical knowledge is important, but so is the ability to communicate well with a variety of different teams.

This is about tact, understanding and objectivity. Being a trusted voice as you speak for HS2. So you could transfer your skills from utilities, infrastructure or any kind of relevant industry.

That said, it's important that you're an excellent manager of workstreams with a real talent for public-facing communications and putting forward coherent, compelling arguments. Equally, you'll need an understanding of Compulsory Purchase Orders, and a real ambition to work on such a genuinely ground-breaking project.

It is expected that you will actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.
