Our client is a high growth SME and is established as a market leader in the manufacture of electric drive systems. It supplies customers worldwide and has a strong foothold in the bus, coach, off-highway and utility vehicles marketplace. It manufactures from two sites on a variable batch production basis including bespoke elements and mixed technologies; mechanical, electrical, electronic and software. It is on a steep growth curve and it has an enviable reputation for its design, technical competence and innovation.
This is a new role coming at an exciting time in the company’s development and it reports to the Head of Manufacturing. You will form part of a high quality engineering team and be engaged in a variety of production engineering challenges that incorporate elements of new product development and a full mix of mechanical and electrical aspects. Specifically the product incorporates electric motors, power controllers, battery systems and telematics in addition to its mechanical construction. You will also be engaged in using lean manufacturing techniques across the business.
Candidates will need to be degree qualified and could come from either mechanical, electrical or possibly electronics companies. You will have been trained in a world-class environment and be up to date with the documentation and work instructions required in a manufacturing environment such as this and this will include a strength in the use of 2D and 3D CAD and other software tools to produce the required documentation. An early career experience in product design would also be advantageous.
