Bridge College are a specialist FE college based in Openshaw, Manchester. They meet the needs of students up to the age of 25 years with learning difficulties and disabilities, complex needs, communication disorders and autism. Our students take part in a wide range of subjects and have access to therapists, hydrotherapy, sensory rooms and gardens and other internal and external specialist facilities. They are currently recruiting for a Music Tutor to join the team and engage, encourage and promote the skills of the students who have enrolled in the course.

As our music tutor you will…

As a specialist Tutor you will work with students aged 16 to 25 years with disabilities, complex needs and autism. Each class head count is small allowing you to create personalised plans for each student meaning you really will make a difference. You will work collaboratively with our multi-disciplinary team and partners to facilitate student progression.

You will be a practicing musician with relevant industry experience within a variety of music settings, have experience of developing a curriculum and accreditation of learning, you will have experience in working within different teams and will be adaptable to changes within the role. You should bring with you a positive attitude and be creative in new approaches.

You will complete assessments and track progress of achievement and be willing to develop and deliver value added activities specific to the area of specialism along with committing to our ethos, policies and practice.

About you

You will hold the relevant qualification (degree within subject area and PGCE/PGDE) and be a practicing musician, you will hold good experience of working with young people with learning difficulties and disabilities. Your knowledge and understanding of non-accredited learning programs and RARPA will be strong and you will be confident in assessment and moderation processes. You will be a good role model for our young people and will be confident in your ability.
