Warehouse Manager Overview

A key member of the factory leadership team, the Warehouse Manager will be responsible for all logistics operations at our clients brand new site in Peterborough.

During the factory start-up phase, the Warehouse Manager be responsible for creating and implementing operational policies and procedures for the site's logistics operations, to ensure they rapidly reach high level of operational performance and of compliance against the site internal Quality, Safety and Environmental Management systems standards as well as against future third-party certifications standards for Quality & Food Safety, Health&Safety and Environment.

Truly passionate about logistics and people, the Warehouse Manager will create a positive culture within the factory and warehouse and will ensure logistics operations are carried out in the safest, most efficient and most productive manner.

Warehouse Manager Main Responsibilities

* Responsible for leading and managing the team of material handlers including:

* Ensuring all team members are motivated.

* All daily management activities.

* Conducting performance reviews.

* Ensuring staff members are adequately developed and provide training, coaching and mentoring as required.

* Responsible for all inbound, internal and outbound moves within the site:

* Ensuring all internal and outbound moves are completed on time, in full, with no errors.

* Ensuring warehouse and yard are organized and conducive to safe, efficient and productive operations at all times.

* Responsible for stock control on site, including raw materials, consumables and finished products:

* Ensuring all stock is adequately inspected and booked-in on receipt.

* Ensuring stock counts are carried out at the agreed frequency, and that stock variances are minimised and adequately investigated.

* Responsible for maintaining and improving the standards of compliance with the site's logistics operations:

* Delivering a high level of compliance against legal and site health&safety standards (including ensuring all tasks are covered by risk assessments and SSOPs, adequate reporting and investigation of incidents, promotion of a behavioural safety mindset).

* Delivering the highest level of compliance against the site's quality and hygiene standards as well as against BRC/ISO standards.

* Ensuring logistics operations comply with the conditions of the EPR and other permits and licenses at all times, including adequate management of the site waste.

* Responsible for managing the site's FLT and PPT fleet - including organising services and regulatory inspections.

* Contributes to the following:

* Creation and implementation of in-house hygiene sheets.

* Actively participates and supports in all quality, environmental and health & safety audits.

* Creation of site balanced scorecard, taking responsibility for reporting and improving logistics metrics. Liaising with senior management regarding results and ongoing initiatives/development required.

Warehouse Manager Skills, Knowledge & Experience

* Previous experience of logistics in a manufacturing environment is essential; previous experience in beverage, food or FMCG industries is desirable.

* Good working knowledge of relevant quality standards (BRC, ISO), environmental standards and permitting regulations (ISO 14001 and EPR installation permit), food safety methodologies (HACCP), health & safety standards (OHSAS 18001) and strong understanding of how logistic functions fits into those to ensure compliance.

* Ideally previous experience in a leadership role.

Warehouse Manager Qualifications

Degree/HNC/HND qualification in Logistics/Supply chain management desirable.

Counter-balance license essential, Reach license desirable.

IOSH "Managing safely" desirable.

Food Safety Level 3 and HACCP Level 3 desirable
