I am recruiting for a part time weekend Laboratory Technician, based in Glasgow, working for a global pharmaceutical and life science company.
You will be part of the Virology team, and be responsible for performance of routine GMP studies based on Molecular techniques. The role will focus on the Product-Enhanced Reverse Transcriptase (PERT) assay which uses retrovirus isolation and disruption, then utilisation of the reverse transcriptase enzyme to transcribe an RNA template to produce a PCR amplifiable cDNA molecule. The methods used in the PERT assay include sample clarification by slow speed centrifugation, assay filtration, isolation by high speed ultracentrifugation and quantitation of cDNA by RT-PCR. This role will primarily involve the execution of the PERT assay, data analysis, management of critical material stocks, maintain good housekeeping, equipment maintenance and recording of data.
We are looking for a student who has a keen interest in developing a career within a pharmaceutical organisation and is studying a higher qualification in Biological Science or related subject. This is a part time weekend role, which is an amazing opportunity to gain experience in a commercial lab to compliment your studies
