About Us

Westward Housing Group is a local housing association with affordable homes across Devon and Cornwall. We deliver a wide range of housing and support services for families, single people, the elderly and those with additional support needs.

Westward Housing Group are now looked for a Housing Worker to join them on a Fixed Term Contract until July 2020 to cover maternity leave.

You'll be a key component to residents' recovery and will take on a highly rewarding role with plenty of challenge and chances to hone your support skills.

Your Role

As a Housing Worker, you will oversee the day to day safe running of the services, including alarm testing, updating the alarm service provider with residents' personal details and liaising with outside agencies.

Specifically, you will monitor of service contractors' performance and reporting of faults/repairs for the schemes and customers where appropriate.

3.5 days a week will be spent at the main office at Prince Street in Newton Abbot, 1 day a week at Peacock Place in Starcross, and half a day per week at Honeywell in Kingsteignton.

Your role will involve:

- Working closely with residents providing support, encouragement and advice
- Enabling residents to settle into their accommodation and maintain it to a decent standard
- Helping residents to maintain their own wellbeing and later, to move on
- Ensuring residents pay their rent on time
- Supporting residents in making arrangements to pay off arrears

About You

To be considered as a Housing Worker, you will need:

- Experience of working with the elderly
- Experience of working within a housing management environment
- Knowledge and awareness of appropriate support services within the area in order to signpost and advise resident
- An awareness of boundaries and confidentiality

Report writing skills would be beneficial to your application. A good level of IT skills would also be desirable.
