Job description

Arctic Shores are looking for an experienced Psychometrician to join their team in London. The individual will work within the wider Science Team. The main purpose of the role is to develop and validate gamified aptitude assessments and supporting the Sales and Client Services teams with bespoke work.

The main duties and responsibilities of the role are as follows:

  • develop and validate gamified aptitude assessments, validating and refining items and scoring algorithms;
  • delivering product training for other areas of the business and update technical manuals;
  • deliver general and psychometric training to the company and re-sellers;
  • use own knowledge and research to constantly improve and update Arctic Shores gamified aptitude test portfolio;
  • maintenance and management of literature databases and literature reviews;
  • selection and extraction of relevant information from academic literature and selection of detailed specifications of tasks parameters for product design;
  • development, testing and maintenance of state-of-the-art psychometric items and item banks suitable for computer adaptive testing
  • validation and refinement of terms and scoring algorithms;
  • act as subject matter expert to support other teams with sales pitches, product implementation, and client/reseller product training;
  • continuously strive to improve product quality by actively monitoring the product, communications, items’ health, candidates/clients feedback and Appstore/Google Play reviews;
  • conducting, publishing and presenting cutting-edge research;
  • writing and publishing white papers, actively submitting work to leading international conferences and high - impact scientific papers;
  • be a thought leader in the field through successful interactions, conference presentations and scientific papers;
  • work collaboratively and cooperatively with all members of Arctic Shores;
  • assume responsibility for training and supervision of junior staff;
  • collaborate with other team members efficiently, contributing the sprint planning and retrospectives efficiently and constructively;
  • develop and maintain a successful network in related academic and commercial environments;

Skills, qualifications and experience

The post-holder will have:

  • A real passion for gamified aptitude assessments;
  • Substantial work experience with in-depth experience of working in a psychometric environment in a similar role;
  • Strong statistical analysis skills including extensive use of relevant R packages;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, collaborating well within a team of Scientists as well as across other teams in the business;
  • PhD in Experimental Psychology in a related research area, preferably Learning and Intelligence with a Neuroscience/Neuropsychology component;
  • Experience in developing and validating aptitude assessment, computer adapting scoring systems, and large item banks;
  • Level A and B Certificates of Competence in Occupational Testing;
  • Excellent use of SPSS, r, and jmetrix, and IRT/CTT-specific software and data analysis techniques;
  • Basic r and python coding skills;
  • Excellent presentation skills;
  • Impeccable academic writing skills; and
  • Interest in international travel to present at events and conferences.
