Blind Veterans UK helps vision-impaired ex-Service men and women of every generation rebuild their lives after sight loss. Since 1915, we've provided rehabilitation, training, practical advice and emotional support to tens of thousands of blind veterans.

The number of veterans we help is increasing rapidly as we implement our overall strategy to embed a national footprint and take our exceptional services to the beneficiary. To enable us to deliver these services, we are expanding our community teams and are looking for skilled and experienced individuals to provide on-going assessment and support to our beneficiaries in their homes and communities.

In the Community Support Worker job, Lancashire you will be:

Assessing needs for advice and information, rehabilitation and training, care support and financial assistance
Working in conjunction with statutory and voluntary agencies to help our members (service users) maximise their independence
Following a rigorous case management process and adhering to safeguarding and risk management procedures
Creating and maintaining community events and opportunities for rehabilitation

The ideal candidate for the Community Support Worker job, Lancashire will have:

Previous experience of working in an front of house role and office environment
A positive attitude with a collaborative, resourceful and confidential approach
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Experience of using case management system to record interventions and have a good understanding of how to maintain professional relationships with our members
Effective IT skills (essential) including a good working knowledge of the MS Office suite and experience of using databases

This is a permanent, full time (35 hours a week) position on a salary of GBP30,300 per annum. Benefits include free life assurance, sickness benefit scheme, childcare voucher scheme and Employee Assistance program and a generous pension scheme.

This position will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

The post will be home based with travel across Lancashire and some travel across Cumbria
