Essar Oil UK is a leading UK-focussed downstream energy company whose main asset is the Stanlow Manufacturing Complex, one of the most advanced refineries in Europe and situated close to the major cities of Liverpool and Manchester.  Stanlow is a key strategic national asset, annually producing over 16% of the UK’s road transport fuels, while playing an important part in Britain’s petrochemical industry by providing key feedstocks.  

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a tenacious Marketing Strategy and Business Analyst to join our well established Commercial team at our Stanlow Refinery. This position sits within Essar’s Marketing department where the Commercial and Retail teams are responsible for marketing Stanlow’s production and managing the downstream inland business activity. 

Reporting to the Head of Commercial you will provide analytical insight as well as leading key aspects of strategy development and implementation, pricing and performance management, and the annual business planning cycle involving a number of business functions. As required, the role will also support and help deliver key process improvement initiatives and marketing projects.

Ensuring optimal performance within a culture of continuous development you will provide deal specific analytical support, assessment and reviews for the Supply and Sales team as well as developing the supply chain and supply envelope view of the market to enhance commercial productivity. You will also be responsible for preparing thorough monthly and quarterly marketing reports. 

Our ideal candidate will be strategic and analytically minded with a strong commercial acumen, and possess project management skills. Although not essential, it would be beneficial for candidates to have had experience in the Oil and Gas or Petrochemical industry.  You will have a Post-graduate Degree (or equivalent) in a business, finance or analytic-oriented field. Alternatively you will have a business related or engineering Undergraduate Degree with significant applied experience in a commercial or analytical role. You will be a results driven team player and have excellent interpersonal skills. It is also essential that you are IT proficient, and particularly advanced in Excel.
