Platform Resourcing are currently working in partnership with a sucessful manufacturer of products used in the Civil Engineering, Drainage, Waste Water and Highway infrustructure.
The Technical Sales core focus is to provide support towards achieving maximum profitability in line with the organisation's Purpose, Mission and Strategic Objective.
The scope of the role requires a targeted approach in driving, managing and growing new and existing revenue streams for the organisation. Excellent customer engagement, applying proactive sales strategies and
information management skills within our technical manufacturing environment is essential to the day to day operations within the role.
The role requires the facilitation of a robust client engagement plan, recording of a client contact log and client meeting strategy to ensure the implementation and use of best practice across the sales department. Reporting directly to the Sales Director on all sales activities outlined in the duties and responsibilities section below.
The organisation's clients broadly range from a technical background including consulting engineers, local authorities, water companies, civil engineering estimators or buyers from the industry.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Identify and develop new client relations in order to deliver and exceed the approved organisation's sales target.
* Work closely within the sales and operations department to ensure long-term relationships with clients, through effective management and interpreting of clients requirements.
* Provide pre-sales technical assistance and product education.
* Will be accountable for client quality control and ensuring that all customer orders meet high-quality standards, by collating client feedback on all projects.
* Negotiate tender and contract terms and conditions to meet both client and organisations needs.
* Report the latest business opportunities and contribute to the long-term business strategy planning for the organisation.
* Liaise with the estimating department in order to calculate client quotations (depending on the scope of the project some daily projects can be quoted by the technical sales team).
* Review and ensure that quality technical bids are submitted in time and in line with industry norms focusing on production times and market rates.
* Where relevant, manage, organise and facilitate the completion of substantial tender opportunities.
* Ensure all tenders are reviewed prior to submission. This will include assessing the commercial risk to the business as well as mitigating any potential onerous terms and conditions and credit issues.
* Certify that all contracts are successfully "closed out" in line with acceptable terms and conditions that mitigate risk to the company.
* Attend scheduled sales meetings to ensure all market information is shared and acted upon.
* Arrange and carry out technical presentations, demonstrating how the organisation's products meet clients requirements.
* Liaise with other members of the sales team and technical experts within the organisation to en-sure that client expectations are been met.
* Support marketing activities by attending conferences, trade shows and participate in exhibitions that the organisation may undertake.
* Prepare sales reports and maintain accurate customer records.
* Managing customer expectations ensuring that efficient systems are in place in order to deliver services to customers in a timely and professional manner.
* Ensure that a good standard of housekeeping is maintained within their area of responsibility.
* Excellent time management and work scheduling responsibilities.
* Communicate all the necessary information and instructions to new employees within their area of jurisdiction.
* Ensure that all company policies, procedures and business ethical codes are adhered to.

Essential background Skills
* Engineering qualifications - a degree in engineering or equivalent experience of engineering sales
* Managing budgets/Generating budgeting strategies
* Conducting customer analysis
* Technical engineering analytical abilities/Microsoft software including: Excel, PowerPoint & Word/Working with CRM systems
* Selling and promoting products within the engineering sector
* Customer segmentation/Global market awareness
* Commercial knowledge of working in a design/manufacturing environment
* Conduct meetings both internally and externally with stakeholders
