General description of role:

* To be a leading change agent within the business unit to identify and close gaps in operational efficiency, utility usage, quality & safety from approved targets.

* Embed a continuous improvement culture throughout site, ensuring that processes are implemented and managed to improve and support optimisation of efficiencies within all areas.

* Manage projects from concept through to handover, responsible for the implementation of projects to the required time, cost and specification standards in a safe and quality compliant manner.

Key responsibilities of the role:

* Implement the existing Refresco Continuous Improvement Methodology.

* Analyse, interpret and understand data / reports and be able to identify opportunities for improvement action.

* Collaboratively support and lead multi skilled/cross functional teams.

* Use a high degree of industry knowledge, product & equipment knowledge, project management experience and relationships across the organisation to enable successful delivery of complex/challenging projects.

* Coaching & developing to less experienced team members and peers.

* Enable a legacy of individuals and teams capable of retaining the CI skills used in each project / task.

* Must be able to not only identify opportunities but can also practically deliver improvement.


* Responsible for delivering site strategic goals both directly and indirectly through others (via good prioritisation of initiatives and alignment/coordination of resource).

* Resilience and perseverance to establish a CI culture.

* Experience of seeking and identifying cost opportunities; improving efficiencies; improving safety & quality capability; generating innovative/creative solutions.

* Proven leadership skills and business acumen and the ability to work with different functions within the organisation. Integrity to handle sensitive topics and respect/value the contributions of others.

* Strong analytical, logical and numerical competence..

Person Specification

* Experience in continuous improvement analytical experience from a similar role Including project management and business analysis.

* A 'completer-finisher' taking accountability for ideas from inception to delivery, in an environment that requires robust metrics to confirm success.

* Must possess the acumen to show up to date knowledge of business improvement techniques such as lean and six sigma and demonstrate proven ability to implement and develop these to best effect within a food manufacturing environment.

Competences and skills

* Excellent understanding of continuous improvement concepts including Six Sigma, Lean, value stream mapping.

* Ability to set-up, facilitate and lead service improvement sessions with a range of business stakeholders (incl. Experience of process/value stream mapping).

* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including Project, Visio, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

* Experience of designing or implementing a framework of continuous improvement in a multi-functional organisation.

* Experience of hands-on implementation of continuous improvement programs and Lean solutions.

* Experience of designing remediation plans to address productivity and efficiency issues and track record of following through to ensure closure.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of stakeholders, senior managers, and subject matter experts.

* Strong analytical, project and product management skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and translate them into operational requirements.

* Experience of the whole project life cycle, able to operate in the initial conceptual design stage, in the depths of system testing, and at each stage in between
